Interview with Baileigh Higgins, Author of Primordial Earth

master mentalism tricks

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Primordial Earth?

This story was inspired by the mutual love of two authors for the movie franchise Jurassic Park, and a conversation about the world we would create if we could. I carried on with the vision and Primordial Earth was born, an adventure into a prehistoric world filled with wonder and danger.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Primordial Earth, what would they be?

The perfect song for Rogue would be “Just a Girl” by No Doubt. It’s fun and chaotic, just like Rogue. She lives to break the rules, rushing headlong into trouble. Don’t be fooled by her petite frame, though. Underneath lies a heart that’s as tough as nails.

As for Seth, he’s somewhat of a loner but he’d do anything for Rogue. Strong and courageous, he doesn’t let anything hold him back. The perfect song for him would be “The Fire” by John Legend.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Yes, I love apocalyptic books, and that’s what I mainly enjoy, but I’ll read anything that catches my eye.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Oh, my gosh. There are so many! The Darkest Winter by Lindsey Pogue, Z Horizon by Camille Picott, Odium by Claire C. Riley, and Fractured World, an anthology for charity.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

That’s a tough one! But if I had to choose, it would be Rogue’s escape from the dungeons through the sewer system. That was both creepy and nasty. A close second would be her crossing the wall in the first book.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I am very particular about my coffee mug. I will only drink from a certain cup.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Be kind and be brave. Stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That there is always hope, no matter how dire the circumstances.
