MONTH OF January

Pandemic or not, you’re coming into 2022 hot, Pisces. After nearly two years in and out of your cocoon, the stars are welcoming you back into the wider world. Friends! Groups! Visibility! With lucky Jupiter returned to Pisces since December 28, 2021—and here until May 10—the next five months put a personal or passion project on the fast track.

Although love planet Venus and communicator Mercury both have retrogrades this month, nothing can stop you from connecting with kindred spirits and like-minded friends. Not only is there a cosmic confab in Capricorn and your collaborative eleventh house, but the karmic north node is moving into Pisces and your community zone for the first time since 2004! Powerful new allies could crop up who open doors or get you to change your mindset in profound ways. Stay open to people who are complementary rather than the same, especially if they challenge you to see things in new ways!

Capricorn rules the skies: Sun, new moon, Venus (retrograde) and Mars

It’s a bit unfair, Pisces, that this wildly social month should happen as pandemic restrictions are making it so hard to take advantage of your spiking popularity. Your dormant urge to mingle is awakening after a long slumber—and now this. But even if you have to get your people fix virtually until the variant gets under control, this is the month to connect and collaborate.

The Sun is in Capricorn and your group-oriented eleventh house until January 19, making its annual visit. New teamwork and friendship options come onto the agenda as early as January 2, when the Capricorn new moon brings inspiring people into your world. This potent supermoon will form a harmonious trine to innovator Uranus in Taurus and your interactive third house. You could get involved in a community cause or test your synergy with out-of-the-box thinkers. A project involving technology, media or an important cause (maybe all three!) could capture your fascination.

Are the people in your circle lifting you up or bringing you down? It may be time to edit your contact list this January. For starters, harmonious Venus is retrograde (backward) in Capricorn until January 29, which could knock you out of sync with certain friends or colleagues. If boundaries have become blurred—or you just need a break from each other—address it authentically instead of avoiding the topic. Focus on finding solutions for the future rather than dwelling only on the past. The January 16 Sun-Pluto meetup here, which happens once a year, could help you get to the heart of the matter bravely.

You’ll be glad you cleared the air since motivator Mars will zoom into Capricorn from January 24 to March 6, puttclass=”body-el-link standard-body-el-link” ing collabs on the fast track. Mars is “exalted” in Capricorn, a powerful placement that can bring thrilling new people into your sphere. Warning: Those tiresome drama queens will become downright exhausting now, and your tolerance for them will be paper-thin with combative Mars here. While it might feel good to confront a bully or tell a dramatic friend to take their diva antics elsewhere, you could be a bit too fast to burn a bridge now.

Mercury turns retrograde from January 14 to February 3

On Januaryclass=”body-el-link standard-body-el-link” 14, expressive Mercury, the planet of technology, communication and travel, turns retrograde. When Mercury reverses its commute, all things under this planet’s jurisdiction can go haywire. Until January 25, Mercury will be retrograde in Aquarius and your twelfth house of illusions, closure and healing. Have you been getting mixed signals or feeling uncertain about whether to stay or go in a certain situation? Slow down and do a gut check before barreling ahead.

While Mercury retrograde can scramble the signals, it’s also a fruitful time to work through your confusion by tuning in. Maybe there’s a reason that you clench up around a coworker—but is it because they make you feel unsafe, or do they remind you of someone from your past? This could be a powerful moment to sort through some past-based fears. The twelfth house rules hidden agendas and, in some cases, secret enemies. Make sure the people in your orbit have earned your trust before you just hand it over to them.

The twelfth house also governs the imagination, and yours could be enriched by Mercury’s reversal. Have you abandoned a creative project? Pick it up again! Fallen out of touch with beloved relatives? Reconnect. The mentally astute planet in your sensitive twelfth house is a prompt to trek down memory lane and get in touch with deeper emotions—including nostalgia, grief or pain you’ve pushed aside for a long time. This is an ideal time to journal, make a vision board for 2022 or reconnect with your favorite healer (every Pisces should have at LEAST one of those!).

Mercury is retrograde until February 3, and it will back into Capricorn on January 25. The last few days of the backspin will place your focus on your eleventh house of friendships and groups. Are the people around you elevating you or bringing you down? Could you work with them more effectively? Take an honest inventory of your own habits: Are you contributing enough, being clear with your requests, holding people accountable? You could have an amazing breakthrough on Team Pisces now. Set aside pride and ego. Focus on the bigger opportunity of everyone aligning and working together toward a common goal.

The January 17 Cancer full moon dials up the drama

January 17 serves up the year’s first full moon, which is in Cancer and your passionate, expressive fifth house. Emotions you’ve bottled up can rush out, which could have mixed results, depending on what you’ve been holding in. A dollop of dramatic flair could work in your favor if you deliver a big announcement with Piscean intrigue.

But with intense Pluto opposite this full moon, there’s a higher likelihood it will sound something like, “I’m quitting my job in 2022 to pursue acting!” or “I’ve been in love with you for five years, dammit!” Script your lines in advance if need be so you avoid chaos and make this a cause for celebration. At its best, this fertile, flamboyant full moon can energize a relationship, awaken your inner artiste or, for Pisces of the childbearing demographic, bring pregnancy news.

The north node enters Taurus on January 18

Say it with power, Pisces! From January 18, 2022, until July 17, 2023, the lunar nodes will shift into Taurus and Scorpio, rippling across your communication axis. Ready for a fresh message, mindset or social circle? Get ready: The Taurus north node in your third house of ideas, expression and community could find you moving to a new neighborhood or joining a cutting-edge crew.

With expansive Jupiter back in your sign since December 28, 2021, you’re eager for new possibilities. Why go it alone? The north node in your third house of kindred spirits could attract someone who complements you to a tee. You might even get a bit more involved in your local community since the dialed-down south node is in Scorpio and your long-distance travel zone. For the next 18 months, you might be more interested in finding a place to settle rather than being a nonstop nomad. However, global Jupiter won’t let you get TOO sedentary—you’ll be the first to book your tickets once travel restrictions lift.

The north node only visits Taurus every 18.5 years; it was last here from April 15, 2003 to December 26, 2004. If you can remember back to that time, you may see repeating themes arise again. Pay special attention to areas of media, writing, teaching and study.

And…Uranus turns direct in Taurus on January 18

On January 18, innovative Uranus wakes up from a five-month retrograde in your cerebral third house. Have you gotten stuck in a mental plateau, with a side bout of tunnel vision? As Uranus corrects course, you’ll suddenly see options that you couldn’t before. Maybe one of your New Year’s resolutions was to stop complaining or to give others the benefit of the doubt. (Or, um, maybe it could be…)

Spinning your wheels on a project? Explore novel ideas and offbeat approaches before rushing to take the safe route. With future-forward Uranus opening your mind to alternate routes—and the north node now in Taurus, too—adopt a student mentality. Sign up for classes, devour podcasts, ask friends to recommend info sources. If you’ve been itching to explore a new social scene, Uranus direct could connect you to kindred spirits, even if you can’t meet up IRL yet.

Slow down! Aquarius season starts on January 19

Ready for a break from all the action? On January 19, Aquarius season begins as the Sun moves into your twelfth house of rest, healing and transitions until February 18. Let the hibernation begin! You’ve got a month to pamper yourself and conserve your energy before Pisces time arrives. With Mercury retrograde here for another week, that’s all the more reason to power down and recharge your mental and emotional batteries. Turn inward, start a spiritual practice or just slow down and be more present. Artistic endeavors can thrive now. If you have loose ends to tie up, handle those projects before your birthday, when you’ll be eager to make a fresh start.

Just friends…or something more? The line between platonic and romantic could blur this month as love planet Venus continues its extended visit (November 5 to March 6) to Capricorn and your casual eleventh house. While that sounds frisky and fancy-free, there’s a catch. Venus is retrograde (backward) until January 29, which could find people—including you—running hot and cold. One minute you’re texting racy photos to your bae du jour; the next, you need space. You could also be on the receiving end of these mixed signals, especially when Mercury turns retrograde from January 14 to February 3.

Luckily, you’re feeling pretty excited about just being YOU now that expansive Jupiter is back in your sign from December 28, 2021, until May 10, 2022. Do you really need to be saddled with a commitment right now anyway? And if you already have a long-term partner, adventurous Jupiter will still keep you busy with your own pursuits. So rather than do the dance of “come here, now go away,” just push yourself to be authentic about needing more free and unstructured time. It’s perfectly normal!

That will get easier later in the month too. Until January 24, strident Mars is in Sagittarius and your tenth house of long-term goals. You could be so obsessed about the future of your love life and “where this thing is going” that you’re not even present. Come back, Pisces! While it’s important to be clear on what you want and not settle, Mars here could give you unrealistic demands and expectations.

On January 24, Mars will join Venus in Capricorn, with both planets staying here until March 6. Even better? The cosmic lovebirds will have a sweet summit right after Valentine’s Day next month. You’ll be much less rigid about how the future could look and open to experimenting and defining things on your own terms. That’s the Pisces way: having an enchanted vision but still leaving room for the universe to suggest an alternate plan.

To the top! The year gets off to a dynamic start, and things will take off fast. Expansive and enthusiastic Jupiter is back in your sign from December 28, 2021, to May 10, 2022. Right before the calendar turned, your comeback started. You emerged from the cocoon you’ve been in since July, and we’re glad to have you back, Fish! With a pile of planets in Capricorn and your collaborative eleventh house all month, old friends and teammates could emerge with ideas for a joint project.

Don’t squander a second! Not only is there a potent Capricorn new moon on January 2, but go-getter Mars is in Sagittarius and your ambitious tenth house of career, success and professional acclaim until January 24. Since the red planet only visits every two years (it’s been here since December 13), you’ll want to lean all the way in during the first three weeks of January.

Look no further than your personal network from January 24 to March 6, when Mars blazes into Capricorn and your eleventh house of groups, friends and technology. Collaborations heat up, and your social media game is on-point. Word-of-mouth marketing could help spread your message and offerings like wildfire. Ask your people to tell their people, and be generous with your own reposts, giving props to online influencers YOU admire. No shame in being a fan—or reaching out with a well-crafted email or DM. But the best strategy is to do it the LinkedIn-style way, having mutual friends introduce you with a glowing testimonial.
