At any given minute, Guillermo Del Toro has fifty stories that he would love to make into films. Sadly, he isn’t going to be able to make them all happen. Much like his plans for Hellboy 3, his much-anticipated adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness.
Ten years after Del Toro began work on the tale, he decided to share a CGI clip to drive fans insane. Del Toro is a perfect fit for adapting At the Mountains of Madness. Watching this small clip reminded us of how badly we wanted this to happen.
Luckily, Del Toro found a way to get several of his story ideas out via his new anthology Netflix series, Cabinet of Curiosities.
The synopsis for Cabinet of Curiosities goes like this:
In an ancient tunnel underneath New York City a charnel house is discovered. Inside are thirty-six bodies–all murdered and mutilated more than a century ago. While FBI agent Pendergast investigates the old crimes, identical killings start to terrorize the city. The nightmare has begun.
Maybe the buzz that this clip has caused across the internet will lead to a studio becoming interested in making the project happen. Fingers crossed.
All we can do is hope that Del Toro finds his way back to the Lovecraft material.
