New Horror Mystery Novel From Dark Ink

New novel mixes horror and mystery in small border town

A novel mixing horror and mystery and seeped in Latino culture will be released by Dark Ink, an imprint of AM Ink Publishing.

Under the Blood Moon by Patricia Santos Marcantonio is about the supernatural goings-on in a small New Mexican town, which is usually pretty quiet until a series of bizarre murders and other inexplicable events. A prosecutor suspects a high-end resort development is at the heart of it all and discovers a conspiracy of the living has opened the door for an ancient evil seeking revenge for old and new betrayals that threaten his own family.

The novel, which will be published Aug. 17, is deep in Latino culture and characters. An ebook and audio version is also available.

Marcantonio is the author of the Victorian Felicity Carrol mystery series; the courtroom drama novel Verdict in the Desert, published by Arte Público Press, the largest US publisher of contemporary and recovered literature by US Hispanic authors and affiliated with the University of Houston; and Red Ridin’ in the Hood and Other Cuentos which earned an Anne Izard Storyteller’s Choice Award and was named an Américas Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature Commended Title.

She received an Alexa Rose Foundation Grant to produce and direct her original play, Tears for Llorona, inspired by an old Mexican ghost story. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.

Her screenplays placed first in the Willamette Writers Kay Snow and Reel Women of the West

Screenplay contests, as well as placing in the top percentage of the Seattle Film Summit, Phoenix Film Festival, MORE Women in Film and Screenwriting Expo 5 competitions.

As a journalist, she earned several state and regional awards and was named a Newspaper Association of America Digital Media Fellow.  For several years, she covered crime and courts as a reporter.
