It’s a sad day for Salem’s Lot fans everywhere. It was recently announced that the Stephen King reboot slated for release early next year no longer has a release date. This news comes after a slew of changes over at Warner Bros after their acquisition by Discovery, Inc.

The Warner Bros./New Line Cinema production was originally slated for a September 9, 2022 theatrical release. Then, it was bumped to April 21, 2023. Now there’s no longer a release date attached to the film. With all the changes currently happening with Warner Bros., hopefully this doesn’t mean Salem’s Lot is being shelved.

The production team behind the film is stacked full of contemporary horror legends. Gary Dauberman is set to direct and write Salem’s Lot. Dauberman was responsible for writing It: Chapter Two and the Annabelle series. James Wan is producing the film for New Line alongside Mark Wolper and Roy Lee. Lee previously produced IT, which is currently the highest-grossing horror movie ever made.

The original novel, written by Stephen King and released in 1975, follows a writer who returns to his hometown to find it infiltrated by an ancient evil vampire. ‘Salem’s Lot quickly became a classic and was King’s first #1 bestseller in The New York Times. Tobe Hooper directed the 1979 mini-series adaptation.

Lewis Pullman, Makenzie Leigh, Alfre Woodard, Bill Camp, John Benjamin Hickey, Nicholas Crovetti, Jordan Preston Carter, William Sadler, Spencer Treat Clark, Cade Woodward, Debra Christofferson, and Pilou Asbaek are all set to star in the latest adaptation of Salem’s Lot.
