Aside from accolades, it would be difficult to find much in common between these two admired filmmakers, whose next movies are coming to streaming services this fall.

First up is Wes Anderson‘s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar in October (his other 2023 release, Asteroid City, is now streaming on Peacock) starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley, Dev Patel, and Richard Ayoade. David Fincher‘s The Killer starring Michael Fassbender, Charles Parnell, and Tilda Swinton then comes out this November.

Before these new additions to their resumes arrive on Netflix, here’s how their fantastic careers stack up.

Their Signature Style: The seven-time Oscar nominee uses striking colors in his films (such as The Grand Budapest Hotel, 2014) and often the same actors (Bill Murray, Edward Norton, and Owen Wilson).

Other Best-Known Works: The list includes Rushmore (1998), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Moonrise Kingdom (2012) and Asteroid City (2023).

How We Know This Latest Is Their Work: A comic film with Ben Kingsley and Benedict Cumberbatch, based on a Roald Dahl tale about a man who sees without his eyes? Sounds like Anderson!

Michael Fassbender in The Killer

Their Signature Style: The three-time Oscar nominee uses low lighting to create dread and mystery in films such as 2010’s The Social Network and unnatural colors in other titles, such as Fight Club (1999).

Other Best-Known Works: Among his most familiar: Se7en (1995), Panic Room (2002), Zodiac (2007), Gone Girl (2014) and Mank (2020).

How We Know This Latest Is Their Work: A psychological thriller about a solitary assassin (Fassbender) who begins to develop a conscience while on the hunt? Sounds like Fincher!

The Killer, Original Movie Premiere, Friday, November 10, Netflix
