I recently looked at 20 cheap knock-off of popular kids tunes (you can watch that video here: https://youtu.be/3pBfmmx5osw), and it got me curious.
Turns out there’s quite a number of these “covers” albums that present themselves as the genuine article – until you look in the booklet and in very small writing it says “songs all played by XXX”. It surely can’t be cheaper to re-record them than just purchase the rights? I don’t know, I’m not an expert.
ANYWAY, this one is one of the better “unofficial” albums. The guy who recorded and performed the songs here actually does a great job for the most part!
I just find it intriguing and funny to hear these “alternate versions” of tunes everyone knows so well and I hope you will too!
