Beach House scored the new Netflix film Along for the Ride, based on the 2009 young adult book of the same name by Sarah Dessen. It’s the Baltimore, Maryland, group’s first-ever feature film score. Below, watch a clip from the movie featuring music from the band. Scroll down for the Along for the Ride trailer, which does not feature the score.
Sofia Alvarez, who wrote and directed the film, said in a statement:
Along for the Ride is a movie about teenage insomniacs with much of the action taking place at night. Beach House’s dream pop sound is so lucid and nostalgic with an emotional current that buzzes through your body while you listen to it—all things, I was hoping, the movie would evoke as well. It felt like such a perfect fit to me that I would have been devastated if they had not wanted to work on it. Thankfully, they watched an early cut of the film and loved it, allowing me to breathe a huge sigh of relief.
Along for the Ride hits Netflix this Friday, May 6. As of now, there are no plans to release a soundtrack of Beach House’s score for Along for the Ride. The band’s latest LP, Once Twice Melody, arrived in February and, by early March, it topped Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart.
