Bella Hadid ditched her signature brown hair to go blonde for the winter. And yesterday, the model went even blonder—and old Hollywood—with her look temporarily. Hadid shared a photo of herself posing in what appears to be a curled, platinum bob wig. The hair evoked Marilyn Monroe, and Hadid channeled the starlet pretty well with her posing. She tagged hairstylist Sam McKnight in the video of her spraying her hair.
Hadid actually is a natural blonde.
She spoke to Glamour in 2016 about why she originally switched her hair color to brown. The reason had nothing to do with her sister Gigi Hadid, another famously blonde model.
“I didn’t really dye my hair to separate myself from Gigi,” Hadid said. “I started dyeing my hair when I was 14. I dyed it black and blue, I wore eyeliner—I was a punk kid. I might want to go blond eventually!”
In March 2017, Hadid spoke more to Harper’s Bazaar about her love of experimenting with her hair color. “I think when you dye and cut your hair it takes away a lot of past resolutions,” she said. “When I was 13, I dyed my hair dark and cut it and I felt like myself. Then when I was 15, I had a bob and dyed it blue and black and had side-bangs. I really just wanted to go back to when I was 15 and relive that.”
Hadid has tried all kinds of colors since with her hair, from two-toned fire red to dark, dark brown.
