This year marked the first Mother’s Day celebrated by the Royal Family since their matriarch Queen Elizabeth passed away in September 2022. The Prince and Princess of Wales celebrated with some intimate photos of Kate Middleton spending time with her kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
In the first photo, Kate poses with the kids outside on their Sandringham estate in Norfolk, hanging out together in a tree. The Princess of Wales is wearing a lacey white blouse with jeans and sneakers and the little Royals are in blue and denim. In the second photo, Kate is holding up Prince Louis, smiling down at him as they playfully dip.
The post is captioned, “Happy Mother’s Day from our family to yours.”
The photos were taken by the family’s favorite photographer, Matt Porteous.
King Charles also commemorated his first Mother’s Day without the Queen, sharing a photo of Elizabeth as a young mother with her son standing in her lap. The next pic shows the Queen Consort Camilla with her own mother, Rosalind Shand, who has also passed.
In the caption, they wrote, “To all mothers everywhere, and to those who may be missing their mums today, we are thinking of you and wishing you a special Mother’s Day.”
This week it was announced that season six of The Crown will show Prince William and Kate Middleton’s meeting for the first time at St. Andrews school in Scotland in 2001. Their roles will be played by Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy. It was an important moment according to former Royal insider Paul Burrell. Burrell worked for Princess Diana for a decade and told the Mirror that Kate is pivotal to the Crown’s future.
“Kate is in such an incredible position because it all rests on her really, the future rests on Kate and that’s an enormous responsibility because if she decided that she didn’t want to be a part of her marriage any more, then I think the royal family would collapse,” Burrell explained. “Everything is pinned up by Kate, the future is underpinned by Catherine Middleton and that’s incredible.”
