Jazz singer and songwriter Angie Wells recently unveiled her new album “Truth Be Told.” The tracks range from swing to ballads to gospel, all compelling in a variety of ways. “Truth Be Told” is a conglomerate of original tunes and cover songs which speaks about the truth of life. It features Angie’s unique and angelic voice, which is filled with innocence and power.
Beginning her singing career in an intimate night club in Paris Angie Wells has since been performing at clubs in LA and New York as well as returning to France with French pianist Raphael Lemonnier. She has also recorded with some of the top, jazz musicians in LA, including Henry Franklin, Kenny Elliot, John Clayton, Clayton Cameron, Sam,Hirsch, Harry Kim, Edward Livingston, Josh Nelson, Edwin Livingstone, and an array of others.
The album provides the audience with stories embedded within the songs. It was produced by John Clayton and include songs “Where The Livin’ is Good”, “She Ain’t That Kinda’ Girl”, “Do I Move You”, “Truth Be Told”, and others. It includes a song about the horrible death of George Floyd, a song regarding the state of the homeless, and other melodies and stories that influenced Angie. Wells also included songs that influenced her as a child listening to music with her dad who is into jazz. She was also influenced by her mom who was a gospel singer.
While the album is entertaining and captivating, it goes deeper than the eye can see. It’s socially relevant, inspirational, and even glamorous. It sets a cascade of different moods and awareness. The album can be found on every digital platform globally.
