But did you know that some of your holiday favorites were inspired by books? We’ve rounded up some of our favorite book-to-film adaptations that are sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992), A Christmas Carol (2009), and Mickey’s Christmas Carol (1983)

Another Christmas classic is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The story has been retold countless times, and there are at least three different adaptations you can watch on Disney Plus. There’s The Muppet Christmas Carol with several of your favorite Muppets playing a role, like Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit. There’s also the 2009 A Christmas Carol starring Jim Carrey, and even Mickey’s Christmas Carol with Mickey Mouse and his friends playing the familiar characters of this classic holiday story.

Then in Marrying Father Christmas, Miranda and Ian are getting married on Christmas to celebrate the special day when they first met and fell in love, all while searching for family. The films are all based on the novels by Robin Jones Gunn.
