Friends, the time to retire your tiny sunglasses is nigh. Bold, dramatic sunglasses are on the up and up for spring. At Celine’s and Gucci’s S/S 26 shows, we saw oversize, vintage-inspired frames à la Jackie O. Think extra-large circle-shaped lenses and aviators. The sentiment of more is more could be seen at Balenciaga and Margiela, too; their takes went in a decidedly futuristic direction. Balenciaga’s sunglasses were particularly out of this world, with one butterfly-shaped pair extending way above the model’s eyebrows and below the cheekbones. Strange, exaggerated shapes and lens colors that span the rainbow also fit the bill.
Sunglasses have always been a “personality” accessory. Whether you’re running around in gym clothes or jeans and a T-shirt, your eyewear is an opportunity to communicate the style you feel most aligned with.
