Your Future is Your Business by Will Skeeters
What’s it About?
Full of insightful wisdom and examples of people starting their own businesses, falling down and getting up again, “Your Future is Your Business” is an informative book to inspire you to take the first step in your journey to becoming everything you can be.
It is said that Thomas Edison tried more than 1,000 times to invent the light bulb before he got it right. Thank God he kept at it.
He had what author and entrepreneur Will Skeeters calls “relentless determination,” a common trait that seems to run through the blood of all entrepreneurs whether famous or not. Skeeters knows a thing or two about entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurial spirit, based on his own experience. And now he has written a book, Your Future is Your Business, full of thoughts, tips and examples of people starting their own businesses, falling down and getting up again and succeeding.
Informative & Inspiring
Skeeters introduces upfront a term some might regard as an oxymoron — the “hesitant” entrepreneur, someone with doubts from the outset, easily intimidated by hurdles and swayed by the discouragement of naysayers. Nothing about starting a business is easy, Skeeters emphasizes, so people should not be lulled into even thinking there might be a quick route to success.
Skeeters’ book is useful and inspiring. Using concepts from his own experience in acquiring a dream-come-true bicycle shop to those of some of the most well-known business icons, Skeeters has created a great primer for those contemplating starting a business. You’ll hear about the early days of brands like Kentucky Fried Chicken, Spanx, CrossFit and others. Even his chapter titles tell readers where they are headed: Resilience, Relentlessness, Determination, Drive, Fortitude and Inspiration, to name a few.
Skeeters also notes that ownership doesn’t singularly refer to ownership of a physical business. It also refers to ownership of your life and the decisions you make. There’s no room for the blame game when you think of it that way.
Any Dream is Possible
Choosing the highlighted entrepreneurs within the book was no random act. According to Skeeters, “They represent some of the most important characteristics needed as an upcoming entrepreneur: courage, strength and perseverance.” The more we witness people overcoming the same challenges we face, the more we can learn from it.
And who’s to say what brand or businessperson becomes the next household name?
Your Future Is Your Business is a fast read but has a lasting message. By showing examples and sharing words of wisdom, potential business owners and ideas advocates will come to realize that any dream is possible, as long as you’re willing to do what is necessary and possess certain personality traits that will guide you along the way.
“May this book,” says Skeeters, “serve as a helpful reminder that although uncertainty exists along our path, if we are willing to put in the work, we can achieve our goals.”
