It’s been rumored that pop star Shawn Mendes has been dating his friend, actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter, but Mendes decided to shut down those rumors for good in an interview with Dutch TV show RTL Boulevard on Friday.
“We are not dating,” Mendes told the program, before directing them back to his reason for being on the show — promoting his partnership with Tommy Hilfiger.
“But I think we should talk about Tommy Hilfiger probably more than Sabrina,” Mendes added. “Thank you.”
Mendes and Carpenter first were seen together in Los Angeles last month according to a post on celebrity gossip Instagram account Deuxmoi, where a bystander alleged they looked “verrry comfortable” while “clearly on a date” at Horses. Shortly after, they were seen again in LA running errands in casual hang out clothes. They were then seen at the album release party for Miley Cyrus’ Endless Summer Vacation in Beverly Hills, leaving the party in the same car together. Allegedly.
Then on Sunday, March 12, at the Vanity Fair’s Oscar Party, Mendes wore a green pendant with his black suit that matches Carpenter’s emerald birthstone, which fans say he’s been sporting since January when he and Carpenter were first connected romantically.

Since his break up with singer Camila Cabello in November 2021, Mendes has been linked to his 51-year-old chiropractor, Dr. Jocelyne Miranda, over the last year and they were most recently seen together at Runyon Canyon just before Mendes and Carpenter were photographed out and about.
When Cabello and Mendes split after two years together, they shared a joint statement reading, “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for another as humans is stronger than ever.”
Since then, Cabello has dated Lox Club founder Austin Kevitch, beginning in June 2022 and breaking it off eight months later.
