Bestselling author and filmmaker Sean-Michael Argo is thrilled to announce the release of his newest novel, The Hoodoos: A Southern Gothic Horror Comedy, available now on Amazon. This thrilling supernatural nightmare blends the high-stakes thrills of a heist gone wrong with aggressive, pulse-pounding Vodoun terror.
When a crime lord known only as the Captain recruits the best heist crew in Louisiana, the plan seems simple: break into the long-abandoned Fontenot plantation deep in the Teche bayou and walk out with five thousand Confederate gold coins. The catch? The treasure is locked behind ancient, deadly spells—a job no self-respecting Vodoun practitioner would ever touch.
Enter Hatch, a low-rent voodoo influencer running a one-man hustle out of a beat-up camper van, and exactly the kind of expendable loser the crew needs. Dragged along at gunpoint, the crew breaches the plantation with speed and skill. What they find waiting for them inside is far more dangerous than a chest of gold. Seven hand-filled, hand-made dolls of dark power suddenly awaken, and they are thirsty for blood—one for each member of the crew.
Will anyone survive the night? Who will catch the curse?
The Hoodoos delivers a fresh, terrifying twist on the crime and horror genres, expertly marrying dark fantasy with biting dark comedy. It is a must-read for fans of gritty supernatural thrillers and relentless, atmospheric suspense.
