With the current state of media production being up in the air, it may be a good time to investigate some of the better free streaming services out there. That’s where Amazon’s streaming service Freevee comes into play.
Freevee is similar to the other free streaming options out there, with one big exception, it has the buying power of Amazon behind it. This allows it to retain more media, while also making media of its own. As always, I have selected some of the best options on the platform for you to indulge in, so let’s get to it.
The Voices

Getting to see Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) in a horror flick is something we don’t often see. Although some say that his role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine is pretty horrific on its own.
In this film, Ryan Reynolds hears voices that guide him along his way, similar to his favorite role as Deadpool. The key difference here is that the voices are coming from his two pets. Also, they are directing him to murder the women in his life.
The Voices manages to be both hilarious and tragic. And don’t worry it’s also horrific and dreadful in equal measure. If you ever wanted to see a cats vs dogs movie where people’s lives are on the line, check out The Voices on Freevee.
Triangle

I really love the time loop sub-genre. There is so much that can be done with it, assuming it is done well that is. Trust me when I say the Triangle does this trope very well. Even knowing that it involves a time loop doesn’t prepare you for the twists and turns in this one.
Triangle also boats an amazing cast. This film stars Melissa George (30 Days of Night), Joshua McIvor (Triangle), and Jack Taylor (EastEnders). If you are a fan of easter eggs, check out Triangle on Freevee.
The Blair Witch Project

This one doesn’t need much of an introduction. This film started the found footage craze that we are still experiencing today. Now, this isn’t the first found footage horror. That would be the problematic Cannibal Holocaust.
What made The Blair Witch Project stand out was its advertising and method of execution. The film was marketed as a real event. They even made a documentary to explain the curse before the movie was released.
The actors were just as much in the dark as the audience. They were simply dropped off in the woods with some directions and supplies. This is why the movie feels so authentic because much of the emotion the actors portrayed was real. Make sure to check out this classic on Freevee.
Ginger Snaps

Who doesn’t love a good coming of age story? No other genre can portray puberty like the horror genre. They usually use transforming into a monster as the trope, but that’s not that far off from what actually happens.
The premise is simple enough. A roaming werewolf is attacking high school students. We have seen this done dozens of times in the past. But never with the heart and soul of Ginger Snaps.
What makes this film different than its competitors, is its depiction of a family unit and how it handles the stress of puberty, or werewolf attacks for that matter. If you want something sweeter check out Ginger Snaps on Freevee.
1408

Each streaming platform has its own collection of Stephen King (IT) adaptations. Freevee happens to have one of the best in the underseen department. Hopefully, we can make it a little more well known.
1408 falls in a long line of Stephen King making mundane things scary. He has done everything from corn to grass, and even trucks, but all of them fall short when compared to 1408.
I won’t spoil it too much for you, but you may want to buddy up during your next hotel stay. If you want to see the limits of what Stephen King can do with just four walls, check out 1408 on Freevee.
