Joel McHale Cast as Sidney’s Husband in ‘Scream 7’

Production company Blumhouse is beginning its cycle of 2025 horror movies. Their first is Leigh Whanell’s Wolf Man which drops in theaters this Friday. The next is The Woman in the Yard which will get a theatrical run starting March 28.

A new trailer for the film was released today and it looks like your classic haunted house movie, only the ghost is presumably a lady dressed in black sitting in, you guessed it, the front yard. What is this mysterious veiled figure and what does she want?

This film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. You may know him for his films Orphan (2009), The Shallows (2016), and more recently, the Netflix thriller Carry-On. It’s written by first-time feature screenwriter Sam Stefanak.

The trailer is creepy enough to be interesting and almost has that Twilight Zone feel where we know a twist is coming. It’s also intriguing and moody. The Woman in the Yard stars Danielle Deadwyler (I Saw the TV Glow, Carry-On).

“Deadwyler [stars] as Ramona, a woman crippled by grief after she survives a car accident that takes her husband (Russell Hornsby). 

Seriously injured, Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler) now must care for their 14-year-old son (Peyton Jackson) and 6-year-old daughter (Estella Kahiha) alone in her rural farmhouse. Then one day the woman takes form in their yard. 

Ramona assumes the woman (Okwui Okpokwasili) is lost or demented, but as the woman creeps nearer and nearer to the house, it becomes clear she is no ordinary figure and her intentions are anything but peaceful. Now Ramona must rally to protect herself and her children from the grasp of the woman who simply won’t leave them alone.”
