Stephen King Loves New Series, Calls it “Mysterious and Terrifically

Mad Heidi, just when you think you’ve seen it all! Co-directors Johannes Hartmann and Sandro Klopfstein have taken us into the world of Mad Heidi, a Swissploitation film filled with comedy, horror, action, lots of blood, and cheese!

This film was not on my radar whatsoever, but the poster artwork drew me in first of all, and then I found out Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers, Daughter, Sleepy Hollow) was playing a leading role; sign me up!

The filmmakers took every opportunity to work things like Swiss Army Knives, cuckoo clocks, and cheese! All the gags tossed at the audience worked, and the blood flowed by the film’s end! Mad Heidi was a film that I needed but didn’t realize it. Filled with significant effects, production design, filmography, and horror-comedy, it all seamlessly creates a fun, campy experience. Films like this are rare, and I hope others agree.

If you like the grindhouse feel, Mad Heidi is your cheese!

I had the opportunity to interview two stars from the film, Casper Van Dien and Alice Lucy. During our talk, we discussed the required training and stuntwork, how it was filming a feature in Switzerland, the initial feeling of tackling this type of project, and the future of Mad Heidi. I hope to see Casper and Alice do another film together; they were the perfect match, played their parts well, and knew the ingredients for success. Casper was having the time of his life; it was apparent in every scene he was part of. As far as Alice Lucy is concerned, we need to see more of her! Just putting that out there into the Universe, this new and upcoming star gave an exquisite performance, giving her character, Heidi, a captivating presence, emotional range, and convincing characterizations.
