I don’t know if you’ve ever been asked about the single luxury you would take to a desert island or perhaps the one food you would eat for the rest of your life if you had to pick one. Well, I’ve often thought about the sartorial answers to both of these questions, and I have concluded that blazers are the one thing I couldn’t live without—fashion-wise anyway. Easily dressed up and down, able to be paired with almost anything in my wardrobe (from dresses to denim and everything in between) and oh so flattering, the blazer really is deserving of its place in the fashion hall of fame.
Over the course of my career, I have really noticed that high-street brands have stepped up their blazer game, particularly the likes of COS, & Other Stories and Arket, who have all made it their aim to perfect the art of a well-made basic. I have one blazer from Arket that I was given for Christmas roughly four years ago, and it honestly looks and feels as good as some of the designer iterations I’ve tried on in the past.
