I Studied All of Zaras Autumn Colour Trends—7 Id Buy Before They Sell Out

master mentalism tricks

It might sound a little ridiculous to be thinking about autumn, especially given that, over the next week, the latest bout of warm weather is set to settle in. But there’s something about mid-August that has me craving a change in setting. Be it my long-standing affliction for a snuggly TV date or my enduring love affair with the Pumpkin Spice Latte, there’s nothing quite like autumn

With cooler weather on my mind, I slowly began to attempt the quarterly wardrobe switch. Down came my cosy argyle jumpers and wool pleated skirts, replacing the lightweight dresses and linen two-pieces I’ve lived in for the last six months. But as I started to filter my seasonal essentials back to the front of my rotation, a distinct lack of colour became apparent. Where were the autumn jewel tones? The trending brights? So, I did what I do whenever I find myself in a trend-led conundrum and clicked onto Zara.

As a seasoned fashion editor, I’ve long found that the easiest way to make your staples feel fresh ahead of the new season is through the introduction of the latest colour trend. And when it comes to expensive-looking pieces and luxury-inspired fashion, Zara has long been one of the best places to go. Be it rich, burnt umber or vivid shades of cobalt, the colour trends the brand is backing for autumn 2026 feel fresh, stylish and will work for both the minimalist and maximalist dresser alike. Trust me: any one of these hues will shift your staples into autumn with ease. So don’t just stand there; keep reading to see the seven colours worth investing in before they inevitably sell out by 1 September.

7 Early Autumn Colour Trends Zara Is Backing Right Now

1. Burnt Orange

Style Notes: As if plucked from the autumn leaves themselves, copper and burnt umber are all over Zara’s 2026 seasonal drop. Balancing the grounding appeal of traditional rust with the potency of vivid orange (a shade everywhere this summer), this underrated hue feels seasonal without being too earthy. Whether you opt for an uplifting pop in the form of a fitted leather jacket or create a striking entrance with a lace maxi dress, the brand can’t get enough of this vivid shade.

2. Ecru

Style Notes: Autumn is a transitional month, which means you can make the most of your summer whites too. However, to make them feel warmer, ecru is the way to go. Sitting between beige and cream, soft hints of grey, yellow or brown add a cosy undertone, which is far more appropriate at this time of year. Plus, it works exceptionally well with the black, brown and red we’ll be wearing through the rest of autumn.

3. Cobalt Blue

Style Notes: Whilst this summer was awash with shades of playful aquamarine and vibrant teal, as we head into autumn 2026, punchy cobalt blue is the blue to know. Having made a splash on the runways, this ultra-saturated electric hue offers an instant, high-impact jolt of energy that not only feels inherently expensive but is also refreshingly wearable. Brightening black, grounding tomato reds and adding a polish to whites, cobalt will keep things interesting.

4. Midnight Black

Style Notes: To me, black is seasonless, but this year, Zara is embracing the midnight hue in an inherently ‘90s way. In its new-in selection, you can see it across sweeping maxi jackets, stylish loose blazers and fitted midi skirts. It’s all very Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.

5. Khaki

Style Notes: Rich in utility and military references with a sense of understated quiet luxury, khaki is the cooler-than-cool colour Zara is championing this autumn. Breaking up the monotony of black and white whilst looking excellent with red, pink or purple, it’s the newest neutral to sweep the fashion set. Try a thick cotton tailored trouser or a delicate draped top to add this one-and-done shade to your rotation. It’s the easiest way to inject some edge into your cool-weather look.

6. Tomato Red

Style Notes: If you’re a fashion person, chances are you’ve been obsessed with tomato red for quite some time. More ubiquitous than ever, the vibrant shade is once again taking over Zara’s digital shelves. Pairing well with every colour in your autumn rotation, you can never go wrong with a pop of red.

7. Slate Grey

Style Notes: A softer, more dynamic alternative to stark black, slate grey is the quiet colour fashion people (and Zara) love this autumn. Understated in its elegance whilst pairing well with both vivid pops and neutrals, its tactile neutrality softens midi skirts and adds an expensive allure to loose, high-waisted jeans.
