Ice Road Truckers: Todd Dewey Contemplates Future After Dramatic Finale

It has all come down to this. The Season 12 finale of Ice Road Truckers where the Muskie Creek Convoy had hit their offload after four days on the world’s longest winter road to Fort Severn. Scott “Scooter” Yuill and Lisa Kelly had their season bet for who will have the most miles. So, the last run chronicled in the History Channel series’ November 19 episode would be even more important.

Scooter left with “Muskie” Todd Friesen to pick up their backhaul in Peawanuck. Lisa and Todd Dewey worked on offloading quickly so they could get back to those two stuck trucks. For Lisa, the backhaul delivery would be a difference maker in fixing her own truck. Scooter and Muskie Todd maneuvered through drifts left by a blizzard. A massive drift ended up getting Scooter stuck. Muskie gave him a tug backward and got him back on track. They made it to their destination and met some of the community they’re helping. Scooter checked in with his family. He got emotional when his daughters spoke how proud they are of him. This gave him a nice boost on the exhausting grip. Scooter ran into some problems right before reaching the finish line. Scooter’s brakes were locked and frozen up. He used a cage tool to help free up the brakes and got rolling again.

Lisa and Todd returned to the area with the stuck trucks. They needed to do all they could to retrieve them. Otherwise, the crew didn’t get unless the rigs were returned to the yard. After failing to get it done the first time, Bill Danh, operations manager for Muskie Creek, called in reinforcements in the form of a bulldozer. This was the difference maker in freeing the trucks. The crew, which included two other drivers, loaded one truck to Lisa’s haul with plans to do Todd’s in the morning. They took the night to rest after a 16-hour day.

The dynamic duo found themselves on the road with other members of their convoy for one last push back to Muskie Creek. This was an extremely bumpy ride that caused part of Lisa’s truck to fall off. Thankfully, a fellow driver named Wayne was able to help quickly. Todd flew home immediately after they finished up. The boss phoned him at the airport to see if he would be up for next season. Todd isn’t sure if he’ll be back for another year. The dedicated family man doesn’t know what the future holds. Lisa and Scooter met up to find out who won their $100 bet for who logged the most miles. It came down to 9,690 miles for Scooter and 10,389 miles for Lisa. Scooter paid the piper with $100 in nickels. He lost the bet, but got the last laugh.

On Black Lake, the Shaun Harris was loading 75,000 pounds, mostly steel. It was the max weight allowed on his Lake Athabasca journey to Uranium City. The challenging run would be even more dangerous with winter receding. It was the only way to save the season. Elsewhere, his sons Zach and Riley were entrusted for a timely Wollaston Lake drive. They had one day to complete a load light enough without going through the ice. Zach would drive, which made Riley a little nervous. For Zach, the drive served as redemption from past mistakes. It was also a test to prove they had what it took to run the family business. Zach kept his nerves at bay to survive the perilous trek. They loaded up the two vehicles they needed to haul back for repair were on their way.

Shaun was met with the sounds of cracked ice on his 55-mile crossing. He had to be extremely careful the entire venture or face potentially fatal consequences. The fearless drive got back to Uranium City on time with cargo arriving safely. After a job well done, the Harris boys came together for fishing and reflection. Shaun was proud of his sons. He spoke about having the most fun in a long time working with them. “I’m not ready to retire…I’m ready to take over the world” Riley doesn’t think he will ever retire. Shaun wants to be there for them and to help them grow the business. And that’s a wrap.
