Iceage have returned with their first new music in five years.
The Danish band’s latest single, “Star,” marks their first release since 2021’s great Seek Shelter. (A rarities album, Shake the Feeling, dropped in 2022.) The song also follows a series of solo releases from frontman Elias Rønnenfelt, including 2025’s Speak Daggers and 2024’s Heavy Glory.
Given Iceage’s tendency to treat each new album as an “evolutionary jump and a new vein of playing,” according to a press release, “Star” is something novel amid their five-record discography. Yes, Iceage have written love songs before (gritty, pained ones mostly), but with jangly energy, hand-claps galore, and a slightly more animated approach, “Star” really does shine as a beacon for the band’s next “era.” Watch the accompanying music video below, directed by Thinh T. Petrus Nguyen.
“Star” is officially out now via Mexican Summer. And stay tuned if and when Iceage announce album No. 6.
