The newest season of Disney Jr.’s animated musical adventure series has officially been added to the Disney+ library. This comes five months after the first season had concluded its 30-episode run.
As of today, Disney Jr.’s Ariel Season 2 is now finally available to stream on Disney+, following its broadcast debut last November. The show is inspired by the classic 1989 movie and the 2023 live-action remake, which were both based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid fairytale.
What do we know about Disney+’s Ariel Season 2?
“It follows 8-year-old mermaid princess Ariel as she and her friends embark on fun-filled, action-packed underwater adventures throughout their Caribbean-inspired fairytale kingdom of Atlantica and beyond,” reads the show’s newest logline. “In the new season, Ariel and her friends discover a magical new undersea realm and embark on imaginative journeys through the beautiful Crystal World.”
Disney Jr.’s Ariel features the voices of Mykal-Michelle Harris as the titular Disney princess, Amber Riley as Ursula, Taye Diggs as King Triton, Gracen Newton as Flounder, Kevin Michael Richardson as Sebastian, Elizabeth Phoenix Caro as Lucia, Cruz Flateau as Fernie, Akiko as Kai Zen, Yvette Nicole Brown as Aquatica, Ron Funches as Delfino, Jenifer Lewis as Nana Xola, Melissa Villaseñor as Navi, Alanna Ubach as Cristina, and more. The show is executive-produced by Lynne Southerland, with Chrystin Garland serving as its director. It is a production by Wild Canary.
Ariel serves as the second animated TV spin-off of The Little Mermaid movie. The first one was Walt Disney Television Animation’s CBS series The Little Mermaid, which was a prequel to the 1989 movie. It featured the return of original voice cast members Jodi Benson, Samuel E. Wright, and Pat Carroll, reprising their respective roles as Ariel, Sebastian, and Ursula from the film. The animated show lasted for three seasons from 1992 to 1994.
