Just last week, People reported that Rachel even allegedly had “tension” with her Snow White costar, Israeli actor Gal Gadot, because of their differing “political views,” and yesterday, Variety reported that Rachel’s words had also allegedly alarmed Disney executives.
Naturally, people had a lot to say about the report, with many pushing back on the idea that Rachel was solely to blame for the film’s performance.
People also called out the producers for “trying to gaslight” people into believing “the movie’s box office failure” was because of Rachel’s tweets.
And before long, the comments had spilled over to Marc’s son Jonah Platt’s Instagram page, with one user reportedly taking to his comments to ask about the report. “Your dad flew across NYC to reprimand a young actress? Any words on this?” the person asked. “Cuz that’s creepy as hell and uncalled for. People have the right to free speech, no? Shame on your father.”
In a since-deleted comment, Jonah reportedly replied, “You really want to do this? Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to to fly across the country to reprimand his 20 year old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for.”
“This is called adult responsibility and accountability,” he continued. “And her actions clearly hurt the film’s box office.” Jonah expressed, “Free speech does not mean you’re allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions. Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of all the colleagues and crew and blue collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful. Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.”
And once again, people found the comments “completely ridiculous” and called out Jonah for the remarks.
Rachel has yet to publicly address the remarks, but we’ve reached out to her reps for comment. Until then, let me know if you’ve seen or plan to see Snow White and what you make of all of this in the comments.
