What would the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame be without a bit of drama? This year’s induction class certainly offers its share of it: Will Peter Hook finally reunite with New Order? Will Iron Maiden, having been snubbed of enshrinement for more than two decades, reroute their tour, in order to attend the induction ceremony? Will Rick Rubin use his speech to promote AI? And then there’s the whole awkwardness surrounding Oasis and Phil Collins.
If you’re not familiar, the Gallaghers and Collins have a feud dating back to the Oasis’ Definitely Maybe days when Noel repeatedly referred to the Genesis drummer as the “antichrist” and made it his personal mission to rid the charts of Collins’ “junk food music.” “We’ve got to get in the charts and stamp them out. I want the severed head of Phil Collins in my fridge by the end of this decade. And if I haven’t, I’ll be a failure,” Gallagher said at the time.
Several years later, Noel encouraged British citizens to vote Labour just so Collins wouldn’t move back to the UK from his then-current home in Switzerland. “Phil Collins is threatening to come back and live here. And let’s face it, none of us want that,” he told the Guardian.

In 2005, Collins finally let loose on the brothers in an interview with the Irish Examiner, calling them “rude and not as talented as they think they are. I won’t mince words here but they’ve had a go at me personally.”
Noel eventually softened his stance on Collins — while still taking some pot shots. “It was a flippant comment about him being the antichrist,” he told Zane Lowe. “I’ll admit, they look bad in print. I probably gave a balanced view of Phil Collins that day, but what looks good is the bit about him being the antichrist. But Phil Collins knows he can’t say anything about me because I’m the bollocks. And the fact that he’s bald.”
Whether Noel and Collins will come face to face at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame remains to be seen, though Liam has already confirmed his attendance.
