Money Heist, or La Casa De Papel, may be coming to an end, but Netflix isn’t ready to say goodbye just yet as it announced a spin-off series titled Berlin.
According to a recent report from Deadline, the series will center around Berlin — also known as Andrés de Fonollosa — a popular character from the series played by Pedro Alonso. The series is set to launch in 2023, with not many other details known. In Money Heist, Berlin is the second-in-command of the Royal Mint of Spain heist and also planned the Bank of Spain heist. The announcement comes as Money Heist is set to end following five seasons, with the final five episodes of Season 5 Vol. 2 set to drop on Netflix on December 3, 2021.

Money Heist centers around a group of thieves led by The Professor, who wears a Salvador Dali mask and a red jumpsuit and takes on names of different cities in order to conceal their identities. In Season 5, the gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have managed to rescue Lisbon, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own. The Professor has been captured by Sierra and, for the first time, doesn’t have an escape plan. Just when it seems like nothing else could go wrong, an enemy comes on the scene that is much more powerful than any they’ve faced: the army. The end of the greatest heist in history is approaching, and what began as a robbery will turn into a war.
“Tokyo is dead and the enemy still lurks in the Bank of Spain, wounded but dangerous as ever,” reads the synopsis for the final episodes. “Facing their darkest hour yet, the gang hatches a bold new plan to get the gold out without anyone noticing. To make matters worse, the Professor may have made the biggest mistake of his life.”
