There’s something oddly refreshing about a movie that knows exactly what it wants to be. “Hacked: A Double Entendre Of Rage Fueled Karma”, directed by Shane Brady, takes a frustratingly relatable real-life situation and turns it into a chaotic blend of revenge fantasy, dark comedy, and blood-soaked catharsis. Inspired by actual events in which Brady and Emily Zercher were hacked and robbed of $20,000, the film opens with a grounded premise before quickly spiraling into something much more outrageous — and honestly, that’s where the movie finds its groove. The “what we wish we could have done” angle gives the story permission to go completely off the rails in the best possible way. Fans of horror-comedy will probably appreciate the movie’s self-awareness. It never pretends to be prestige horror, nor does it try to overcomplicate its message. Instead, it leans hard into absurdity, revenge, and the kind of unfiltered anger most people would probably feel after being financially violated online. There’s an energy to the film that keeps it moving, even when some of the humor gets intentionally ridiculous.
