Prince Andrew Banished Staffer Because of Their Mole, Book Claims

Prince Andrew apparently had more than one staffer banished from the palace over their appearance, a new book about the royal family claims.

“It’s true that some royals can display acts of ill temper,” royal author Tom Quinn writes in his forthcoming book, Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, according to an excerpt published by U.K.’s The Times on Thursday, February 6. “One former servant recalled how Prince Andrew insisted on a member of staff being transferred because he disliked a mole on the man’s face.”

Andrew, 64, apparently also “moved a man to other duties for wearing a nylon tie,” the book states.

News of Andrews alleged actions with staffers comes following his widespread controversies over recent years, including a highly publicized connection to late billionaire sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

In 2019, Andrew was accused of sexual assault by a woman named Virginia Guiffre, who claimed that he raped her at 17 years old. Andrew has continued to vehemently deny the accusations. (Andrew settled his lawsuit with Guiffre in February 2022, for an undisclosed sum.)

Despite his denial, Andrew was stripped of his royal title and took a step back from the family in 2020 after the Epstein connection and Guiffre lawsuit went public. (Late last month, multiple U.K. outlets published an alleged email between Andrew and Epstein from 2011.)

The Times excerpt from Thursday didn’t solely focus on Andrew when it came to royal family members who’ve been testy with their staff. Prince Edward also had an apparent issue with those who worked for him, Quinn’s book reads.

“According to a now retired member of the Buckingham Palace staff, Prince Edward once tore a strip off his driver for looking too often in his rear-view mirror,” the excerpt claims. (“To strip off” is an informal British idiom meaning to criticize someone forcefully.)

Elsewhere in the book excerpt, Quinn claimed that Princess Kate Middleton treats husband Prince William as “her fourth child.” (The couple shares Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.)

“I don’t know where William would be without Kate — she hasn’t had everything done for her throughout her life, so she calms him down when he gets a bit fractious,” the book claims via an unnamed source. “She said he sometimes has to be treated as her fourth child.”
