Self-described “Satanic doo-wop” act Twin Temple have announced their sophomore album, God Is Dead, arriving October 13th. The lead single “Burn Your Bible” can be streamed now.
The tag “Satanic doo-wop” is pretty spot on: Twin Temple dabble in a blend of soul, R&B, and dark cabaret that’s steeped in blasphemy.
As heard on “Burn Your Bible,” the duo of Zachary James and Alexandra James possess both the necessary self-awareness and musicianship to pull of such an act, sounding something akin to a witchy Amy Winehouse. The lo-fi mono-channel production also adds a macabre, sepia-toned allure.
“Despite relentless death threats and moralizing, our allegiance to Satan and the golden oldies remains unwavering,” stated the band in a press announcement for the LP. “God Is Dead is our most blasphemous, horny and painstakingly period-correct work to date. Saturated with the blood of babies, and forged in the ashes of burning churches, we spared no one in the making of this album. See you in Hell!”
The record is set to drop just after Twin Temple’s upcoming tour supporting Danzig and Behemoth. The trek kicks off August 25th in Las Vegas and runs into the latter half of September. You can pick up tickets to those shows here.
