Get an inside look at ‘Let the Right One In’
Hype is growing for the forthcoming Showtime television adaptation of Let the Right One In. The project is based on the iconic 2004 novel by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist. Some consider the 2008 film to be one of the best vampire films of all time, and now Away creator Andrew Hinderaker is bringing the epic vampire tale to TV. Entertainment Weekly has shared the first look images for the series, so check them out below.
The cast for the New York City-set story includes Demián Bichir, Anika Noni Rose, Grace Gummer, Madison Taylor Baez, Kevin Carroll, Ian Foreman, and Jacob Buster. Nick Stahl also appears in the series which Tomorrow Studios produces for Showtime.
Entertainment Weekly spoke with showrunner Hinderaker who shared the following insight:
The [original] film is about a relationship between an isolated bullied boy and an isolated lonely girl, who we learn is a vampire. What I found so compelling about that film is there’s a much smaller relationship between the vampire and [her] adult caretaker. I really used the film as inspiration for a story that really focuses on a 12-year-old girl who has been a vampire for 10 years. She has been taken care of by her father, who keeps her alive, who keeps them ahead of the law, and who has kept hope alive for both of them that one day they will find a cure and this won’t be her life always.

According to Deadline, genre favorite Nick Stahl appears as Matthew in Let the Right One In, as “a former soldier and fiercely loyal fixer for the Logan family, whose clean-cut, mild-mannered exterior belies a savagery beneath.” Stahl can be seen on an exciting series arc on Fear of the Walking Dead. More recently, he starred in Fantasia Fest standout What Josiah Saw. He also appeared as Yellow Bastard, one of the most frightening villains in 2005’s Sin City.
Additionally, Let the Right One In also received an American remake in 2008 retitled Let Me In directed by The Batman mastermind Matt Reeves.
