Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have only been engaged for a month, but Biles is already coming up with ways to make affianced life better. After announcing the news of their engagement on Feb. 15, Biles shared a peek at her sparkling engagement ring: a massive oval-shaped diamond set on a white-gold pavé band surrounded by dozens of miniature diamonds. Owens custom-designed the ring with the help of ZoFrost & Co., giving it his own personal touch before offering it to his wife-to-be. Biles, however, recently revealed that she has a second “engagement ring” that holds a very different meaning.
“Okay HOW CUTE. So I can [work out] & not damage my engagement ring 🤍🤍🤪🤪,” Biles captioned an Instagram Stories video of her second ring. Made of silicone, the fake “engagement ring” is perfect for sweaty workouts and trips to the gym — something the Olympic athlete likes to squeeze into her schedule regularly. The ring, likely a White Diamond Silicone Ring ($225 to $1,365) from Casual Carats, comes in four diamond sizes and is available in yellow gold, white gold, or rose gold. Biles opted for white gold set with a full-cut diamond.
If you are currently engaged (see: Sydney Sweeney, Megan Fox, and Lana Condor), wear a wedding ring, or never leave home without your signature hand jewelry, you know that ghostly feeling your fingers get when you’re missing your favorite band. Made with comfortable silicone that wicks away water, Biles’s piece is practical, yet stunning, making it the perfect replacement for her actual ring when she goes to the gym. Plus, swapping out her jewelry for a decoy ring eliminates any worries of leaving the real deal behind in a locker or gym bag.
Some traditions say you should wear two rings on your wedding day, but Biles’s genius hack is proof that it never hurts to have three. If you’re in need of a placeholder ring that can handle a little wear and tear, shop Biles’s gym-friendly engagement ring and a few other affordable options ahead.
