True crime is big, and movies based on real-life events are always trending. There is also a massive amount of horror fans who specifically dig this type of media. So, it is no surprise that the #1 thriller on Hulu is Boston Strangler.
Synopsis
Loretta McLaughlin was the reporter who first connected the murders and broke the story of the Boston Strangler. She and Jean Cole challenged the sexism of the early 1960s to report on the city’s most notorious serial killer.
Boston Strangler is written and directed by Matt Ruskin. It stars Keira Knightley, Carrie Coon, Chris Cooper, David Dastmalchian, and Alessandro Nivola.
The case involved a serial rapist and killer who murdered at least 13 women between 1962 and 1964. Victims ranged from 19 to 85 years old. Because there were never signs of forced entry into the homes, he was originally called the “Phantom Strangler.” There has been an ongoing debate on if the man in custody is the actual killer.

Kathy and I just watched “Boston Strangler” (2023) on HULU.
This is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. This is an intelligent movie – well scripted, well acted, well staged.
This is a movie for thinking adults. It’s about a lot of things – including working women.

#BostonStrangler – With shades of She Said and Zodiac this is a compelling film from the first shot until the last, elevated by reliably strong and fiercely charismatic performances from Keira Knightley & Carrie Coon who deserve serious Emmy consideration. pic.twitter.com/IEZyxLRBEc

Jarring to see Keira Knightley in a story as modern as The Boston Strangler

#BostonStrangler is a gripping film about the reporters who broke the story of the notorious serial killer. So not only does it deal with those horrific crimes, it also focuses on the challenges women journalists had to face in the 1960s in a powerful way. pic.twitter.com/13uSSE9N7C

Watched Boston Strangler last night on Hulu. Solid film, gave me Zodiac-like vibes with the film style and story structure. More importantly in hones in on the frustrations of solving cases like this and the fear the women of Boston went through. pic.twitter.com/wyYQ4qSTJ0

Not sure any film in recent memory has enraged me as much as “Boston Strangler,” being released today on @Hulu. Keira Knightly and Carrie Coon are magnificent in it. Coon, in particular, seems to quietly steal every scene she’s in. I don’t wanna spoil anything. Just watch it.

Really enjoyed The Boston Strangler on Hulu. Definitely had some Zodiac vibes at times. Great cast, compelling story & leaves you wondering who actually committed these murders, all while admiring the women who pursued the truth relentlessly. @hulu #BostonStrangler
