This is a bold statement, but in my opinion, nothing is more useful in a wardrobe than the perfect striped jumper. Yes, you may feel like you’re cheating on your jeans by agreeing with me, but the power of a Breton is unparalleled—especially on those mornings where you find yourself staring at your wardrobe totally uninspired. Throw it on with your favourite denim or wide-leg trousers, over leggings, tucked into a mini skirt or tied around your shoulders. See! Versatile. However you choose to add it into your day-to-day outfits, one thing’s for sure: It always makes them look chicer. 

The Breton has, of course, been a hero piece in the most stylish wardrobes for years and remains the linchpin of every French woman’s capsule collection. One of the key reasons they remain so timeless and popular is that you don’t necessarily need to spend hundreds for them to look expensive. Lucky for us, recently, there’s been a huge resurgence in striped jumpers across the high street and designer brands (like that Totême one), but there’s one in particular that I’ve personally been leaning on most days recently (and I know other Who What Wear editors have as well), and it comes in at £65.
