Until Dawn Trailer Previews Sony’s Live-Action Horror

Sony has released the official trailer for Until Dawn, Sony’s live-action horror film based on the PlayStation Studios video game.

“One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening,” Sony’s synopsis reads. “Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.”

What happens in the Until Dawn trailer?

The trailer highlights the movie’s spin on the choice-based video game, where characters’ choices in the game lead to different outcomes and endings. The movie alters this mechanic by having the characters start over at the beginning of the night after their deaths. It’s similar to being stuck in a time loop. The only way out is to survive until dawn.

Until Dawn stars Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Odessa A’zion, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, Maia Mitchell, and Peter Stormare, who voiced the character of Dr. Hill in the video game.

David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation) directs Until Dawn from a screenplay by Blair Butler and Gary Dauberman. Producers include Sandberg, Dauberman, Mia Maniscalco, Lotta Losen, Roy Lee, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan. Charles Miller and Hermen Hulst are listed as executive producers.

Until Dawn opens in theaters on April 25, 2025.
