Warner Bros. and Paramount‘s merger into Skydance will likely be closing in the next few days, and will likely see two key CEOs from the companies leaving the company.
According to a new report from Variety, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, the co-CEOs of WB, are set to depart the company once it eventually merges with Paramount. The report notes that De Luca and Abdy won’t be part of the management team at Skydance, but it’s unclear if the pair will remain on for a bit during the transition.
De Luca and Abdy just had their contracts renewed at WB a year ago, but it seems as if Skydance is looking to move in a new direction now that the company will be housed under one roof.
Who will be overseeing the newly merged Paramount & Warner Bros. company?
Variety’s report notes that Paramount film heads Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein are set to step in and oversee both movie studios. Under the proposed agreement of the merger, Paramount and WB must release 30 movies a year, though it’s unclear how that will be split up or what the final release picture will look like down the line.
As of now, much of the soon-to-be Skydance and its leadership is being kept under wraps. The closing of the deal is set for October 6, which is when we’ll likely learn a lot more about the inner workings of the company and how its set to move forward housing so many brands.
We already know that several members from WB, including the likes of James Gunn and Peter Safran, are staying with the company as it moves into its new era, but we don’t exactly know what it means for the future of many shows or movies.
