Lit Hub’s Most Anticipated Books of 2025

Lit Hub published a megalist of anticipated books (291!) out in 2025, organized by month. It’s a big list with lots to parse and includes some works you might not have encountered yet, like a couple of collections from The New Yorker and From Ted to Tom: The Illustrated Envelopes of Edward Gorey by Edward Gorey, edited by Tom Fitzharris. If you’re looking to stack your list with literary and experimental works, from a novel about Harriet Tubman coming back to create a hip-hop album and live show (by Bob the Drag Queen!! What? Amazing.) to a Melissa Febos memoir about sex, you’ll find plenty to look forward to here.

Vulture’s Most Anticipated Books of 2025

Everyone’s most anticipated is rolling out this week, it seems. The two listed here today are pretty different, so worry not about too many repeats. While Vulture‘s most anticipated is also organized by month that’s where most of the similarities stop–it’s a much shorter list (30 books) and you’ll find more commercial fiction here. Romantasy sensation Rebecca Yarros appears on this list (and other pop culture adjacent lists) with Onyx Storm out this year, for instance. The crossover between most anticipated lists swarming my feeds is beginning to tell me a story about which books are poised to be the big books of the year. Good Girl by Aria Aber, We Do Not Part by Han Kang, and Black in Blues by Imani Perry are the It books of January, alongside Onyx Storm, based on what I’ve seen across various anticipated lists.

A Reading Challenge for Audiophiles

I could not read as much as I do without audiobooks, and I simply love having books read to me, so it pleased me much to see this audiobook listening challenge from Libro.fm. I’m already accidentally completing Challenge 2–I’m currently listening to By the Fire We Carry: The Generations-Long Fight for Justice on Native Land by writer, journalist, and citizen of the Cherokee Nation Rebecca Nagle, which is an excellent listen and a hard listen when it comes to the subject matter. I will always be here for a challenge that encourages people to read diverse books, as we strive to do and as this one does (I predict that “South West Asia” will appear in the Google search histories of many participants), and to mix up their reading life with different formats.

How to Establish a Reading Habit

It’s the time of year where everyone assesses and evaluates their habits and tries to make adjustments and improvements. As a reader, you’ve likely approached the question of how to improve your reading habits, and if establishing one is your 2025 resolution, we have a starting place for you!
