“Henry Winkler is one of the nicest people around. I did personal security for him once, and he was an absolute saint. Everyone I know who worked with him has said the same.”
“The big nightmare, security-wise, was the women. He had warned me ahead of time in our briefing, but it was wild. Women coming up with ‘We were married last year, he knows this’ and ‘He wants me to talk to him.’ It was an unending flow of batshit. I felt bad for him.
He was doing a book signing for a children’s book he wrote on fly fishing. At one point, he saw how long the line was and how many kids were in the line. So he got out from behind the table and went up to each and every kid in line, one after the other, to talk to them and sign their books. When his manager tried to corral him, he told the manager, ‘Don’t interrupt me when I’m talking to kids.’
Just a nice, nice guy.”
“My friends and I met him on the street in NYC many years ago. They saw him first, and I was like ‘be cool, be cool’ — but of course they weren’t! He was SO nice to all of us, asked us where we were from, etc. He asked us our names and invited us to see his play that night! We showed up, and yep, he had reserved four tickets for us! He used my name since it was the easiest to remember. It was a show with him and John Ritter. Made me a fan for life!”
