Approximately 10 minutes after it was announced about the lockdown back in November 2020, I started a hunt for a coat that could actually double as a duvet. If my life was going to be al fresco, I wanted to be cocooned in as much padding as possible. After a week of searching, I settled on an oversized puffer from Arket, which is made from recycled down and is quite possibly the warmest thing I’ve ever put on my body, and I have a feeling it will remain a staple for winter 2021.
In my research, I looked at every puffer coat on the internet, so I thought I’d share with you my rather extensive shortlist of coats, many of which are back in stock this season. If you have a higher budget, Moncler, Max Mara and Prada are the clear front runners, and unsurprisingly, I’ve found that Scandi brands really excel when it comes to coats that could take on the Arctic (or an outside dinner in December). ACNE Studios, Arket, & Other Stories, Stand Studio, Holzweiler and Ganni all have amazing coats that are practical as well as stylish.
