Another horror film goes the way of the series. John Ajvide Lindqvist’s Let the Right One In novel has already spawned two really great films from two different directors. However, the story still begs to be told. This time around the story goes to a 10-episode Showtime series that will allow the story a lot more time to be told entirely.
Both Matt Reeves and Tomas Alfredson have worked on wonderful films of their own merits. Both films told the story of the young vampire meeting a young boy and falling in love. It also briefly told the story of the girl’s caretaker and how he would assist her in travel and getting fed.
“What I found so compelling about that film is there’s a much smaller relationship between the vampire and [her] adult caretaker.” Showrunner, Andrew Hinderaker said. “I really used the film as inspiration for a story that really focuses on a 12-year-old girl who has been a vampire for 10 years. She has been taken care of by her father, who keeps her alive, who keeps them ahead of the law, and who has kept hope alive for both of them that one day they will find a cure and this won’t be her life always.”
The entire first episode focuses on the young vampire’s move to the new city with her caretaker. It is about them getting settled in and meeting their young neighbor.
Basically, the same story as both films but with more expansion in each of the relationships.
Eleanor Kane plays the young vampire while Demián Bichir plays her caretaker.
The Showtime series stars Madison Taylor Baez, Željko Ivanek, Fernanda Andrade, Nick Stahl, Grace Gummer, Anika Noni Rose, Kevin Carroll, Ian Foreman and Jacob Buster.
So far only these photos from EW are available. But, we will keep an eye out for more details and when you can expect to see the series on Showtime.
