Gary Lynn Floyd and Harriet Schock will be a featured guest on “If These Walls Could Talk” with hosts Wendy Stuart and Tym Moss on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023 at 2 PM ET live from the infamous Pangea Restaurant.

Gary Lynn Floyd is an American singer-songwriter who connects straight to the heart with his soulful style.

A native of Houston, Gary began picking out melodies on a piano at four years old, and he’s been making music ever since. Today, he writes deep and meaningful music and shares these songs to audiences across the country. His style is a mix of pop, rhythm, and blues, combining silky vocals with powerful lyrics.

It is Gary’s openness to divine inspiration that fuels his endless supply of musical ideas and creates his inspirational lyrics. That’s the light that shines through his performances. With his piano, Gary is a catalyst for positive change and raises the collective vibration through his music and his welcoming presence on stage.

Gary brings to his musical performances the culmination of a life’s work. From early roots in gospel and jazz to stage and screen acting to his recent one-man show “When Gary Met Harry: The Music of Harry Warren”, Gary draws from a deep and eclectic well of talent and experience

Unanimously, critics and fans alike respond to Gary with open arms. As examples, the Global Women’s Empowerment Network selected Gary’s “Unbound” as its theme song. The CW Network Television Series, TroubadorTX, featured Gary among celebrated Texan singer-songwriters. Also, his critically acclaimed EP, The Gospel of Zen, was nominated for three 2010 OutMusic Awards, including Album of the Year.

Harriet Schock was born in Dallas, Texas, where her father taught her to play the piano by ear at the age of 4. She studied piano privately through grade school and high school, and she wrote her first song in the seventh grade. She received a B.A. in English and continued writing songs, mostly special material for skits and school events. Shortly after college, Harriet moved to Los Angeles, signed a contract with Colgems-EMI as a staff writer. In 1973, she recorded her first album for 20th Century Records, containing her song, “Ain’t No Way To Treat A Lady,” which became a hit for Helen Reddy and was later nominated for a Grammy. She recorded two more albums for 20th and then, in the nineties, recorded “American Romance,” and “Rosebud,” produced by the legendary Nik Venet. She performs regularly, and her sixth album, “Harriet Schock, Live from Fairfax to Pasadena” was released in December of 2001. Her most recent CD, “Breakdown on Memory Lane” was released in 2013. Her newest CD, “Paintings” will be released in May of 2023.

Her songs have been recorded by Smokey Robinson, Roberta Flack, Helen Reddy, Lee Greenwood, Johnny Mathis, Syreeta, Carl Anderson, Gloria Loring, Vikki Carr, Manfred Mann, Vesica Pisces, Mireille Mathieu, Letta Mbulu, Nancy Wilson, Simon Lynge, Elaine, Lambert & Karl, Jeannie Kendall and many others. She also wrote “Dreaming” which was recorded by Jodi Benson (The Little Mermaid), a favorite among Little Mermaid fans.

In the eighties, Harriet signed with Jobete Publishing and wrote under the direct supervision of Berry Gordy. With Misha Segal, Harriet co-wrote “First Time on A Ferris Wheel,” for the Motown film, “Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon.”  “Ferris Wheel” has been performed or recorded by over thirty singers to date. Harriet co-wrote all the songs for “The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking,” the animated “Secret Garden” and Universal’s “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus.” Her songs have also been featured in numerous other films and TV shows, including the current Emmy-winning PBS series, “Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks” for which Harriet co-wrote the theme song with Geoff Levin.

Harriet has written the theme song and score for Henry Jaglom’s film, “Going Shopping,” which premiered on September 30th of 2006 and later released on DVD. She also wrote music for Jaglom’s “Hollywood Dreams,” starring Tanna Frederick, released in 2007. The third Jaglom film Harriet worked on is “Irene in Time,” in which she plays Sandy Fuse who is making an album with Irene, the main character, played by Tanna Frederick. Then in 2013, Harriet was part of the ensemble cast of “Just 45 Minutes from Broadway,” another Jaglom film.

Two songs of Harriet’s are on the latest Jeannie Kendall CD, one of which was nominated for AC/Hot AC Single of the Year in 2005 by New Music Weekly Magazine.

Harriet taught songwriting for two years at USC in the undergraduate program, and has lectured, taught and been published in songwriting magazines, nationwide. She has been teaching songwriting for 33 years…one-on-one private lessons, group classes for the Songwriters Guild of America as well as privately and on-line courses. Her book, Becoming Remarkable: For Songwriters And Those Who Love Songs is comprised of 48 of her articles and is published by Blue Dolphin, Becoming Remarkable is available in stores nationwide and online.

Harriet was honored in 2007 by L.A. Women In Music for her career accomplishments and contributions.

In 2022, Solari Communications launched three Indiegogo Campaigns to raise funds for “Hollywood Town – The Harriet Schock Story.” The goal was met each time and the film is presently in production.
