The official logo for the upcoming Green Lanterns series, Lanterns, has been revealed ahead of its release. The superhero series is set to launch sometime later this year. It was one of the numerous films and television shows announced by James Gunn in January 2023, when he discussed the initial slate of the DC Universe: Chapter 1 – Gods and Monsters. The show will follow the mentor-trainee relationship between veteran Green Lantern Corps member Hal Jordan and new recruit John Stewart.

A picture of the Lanterns logo was shared on social media by several outlets. The logo has a noticeable green hue in the middle. The hue reflects the signature color of the main protagonists’ superhero outfits and powers.
Fans got their first taste of the series on February 27, 2025. This was after James Gunn shared a photo of Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart and Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan on social media. The image was accompanied by confirmation that the show was in production.
The first teaser trailer was later launched at the HBO Max Upfront event in São Paulo, Brazil. The official description shared online mentioned that neither Stewart nor Jordan wore their Green Lantern uniforms in the footage.
A small clip of the series was later incorporated into HBO Max’s December 12, 2025, teaser for their 2026 slate. The clip shows a few shots from the series, accompanied by a voiceover of Stewart claiming he has trained his whole life to be a Green Lantern. It then cuts to a shot of Jordan and Stewart riding in a car with the former telling the latter, “You’re not ready to get up in front of the class until the ring says you are.” Jordan is then shown jumping out of the car while Stewart braces for impact as the vehicle veers off the cliff.
Lanterns is set to premiere in late summer 2026. However, an official release date hasn’t been revealed.
Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King co-created the series. The show’s story, reportedly inspired by popular crime drama True Detective, will see Jordan and Stewart investigate a murder in Nebraska.
Besides Chandler and Pierre, Lanterns will also star Kelly Macdonald and Nathan Fillion. Fillion will be reprising his role as Guy Gardner from Superman.
