Foals’ keyboardist Edwin Congreave has left the group after 15 years. “We’re sad to say that we played our final show with Edwin Congreave as a member of Foals at All Points East festival in London,” the band wrote on Instagram today (September 22). Foals wrote that after Congreave’s long tenure of “sweet music making & surfing the globe together, he’s decided to hang up his musical boots to pursue other avenues of life.”
Congreave added that he will begin a postgraduate degree in economics at Cambridge next month. “Music is a balm and a light, and so I couldn’t be prouder to have called myself a musician, and to have played a part in Foals’ journey from indie delinquents to bona fide rock stars,” he wrote.
Elsewhere in the statement, Foals wrote that they have been writing music as a three piece, “which we cannot wait to share with you.”
Back in 2018, Foals’ bassist Walter Gervers left the group after his 12 year tenure, also under amiable terms. “The parting has been sad but we remain firm friends,” the group wrote in a statement on Instagram.
