Gracie Abrams Drops Look at My Life While Counting Down to Daughter from Hell

Gracie Abrams dropped “Look at My Life” today and wasted exactly zero time putting the next chapter on the board.

The indie pop singer-songwriter released the single on June 29 and used the same Instagram post to confirm that “Daughter from Hell” is arriving in three weeks. That’s a two-track rollout in one clean announcement. No ambiguity, no waiting around.

Both songs come with a production squad worth paying close attention to. Abrams credited Aaron Dessner, Dan Nigro, and a collaborator known as bella icecream, writing on Instagram, “You guys rock my world – thank you for painting my insanity with pretty colors.” That’s a serious room to be working in. Dessner is the Grammy-decorated producer and The National member who helped shape Taylor Swift’s folklore and evermore. Nigro produced Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR, one of the most celebrated pop records of the last decade. bella icecream is the wildcard name in the credits. In that lineup, you earn your place. That collaboration alone makes this rollout worth tracking.

On top of the single, Abrams dropped a music video for “Balloon Heist” as part of the same announcement. She called it “nutty” and gave full credit to director Mitch Ryan for pulling it together. The crew included producer Will Noyce, director of photography Benn Carey, and editor Dylan J. Edwards on the technical side. Stylist Jenny Shu, hair artist Fabio Petri, and makeup artist Emily Cheng handled the on-camera presentation. That’s a full professional team, and Abrams made sure to acknowledge every one of them.

The post has already cleared more than 428,000 likes on Instagram. For an indie-leaning artist, that kind of engagement signals her audience is locked in and growing fast.

Abrams has been steadily climbing for a few years now. She picked up significant attention after touring with Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour. That run put her in front of stadium-sized crowds far beyond her usual base. Her collaborative history with Dessner goes back, and that creative chemistry is clearly still alive. Adding Nigro to the mix signals she’s reaching for a bigger sound.

The two-song strategy – “Look at My Life” today, “Daughter from Hell” in three weeks – looks like an artist who’s thought this through. She’s not scatter-shooting releases and hoping something sticks. She’s running a play.

“Daughter from Hell” is a title that commands attention. The name does the work on its own. Locking it in as a confirmed follow-up, rather than a surprise, gives the whole rollout real momentum.

Mid-July is the next date to circle. Abrams is dialed in and moving with purpose.
