Is Abbott Elementary Gearing Up for a General Hospital Crossover?

Abbott Elementary‘s latest episode revealed something major about the staff at the titular school as the opening and closing scenes teased their obsession with none other thanGeneral Hospital.

Yes, the TV soap captured their attention in the teachers’ lounge, starting with Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter), who was engrossed in the plots of the daytime hit. Initially, Jacob (Chris Perfetti) wanted her to turn it off, as he complained that she watched it all the time, but Janine (Quinta Brunson), Gregory (Tyler James Williams), Ava (Janelle James), and Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph), all found themselves wrapped up in the soap before their break was through.

By the end of the episode, after the teachers struggled to find the remote control for the television, Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis) uncovered the device, which allowed Janine to turn up the volume as they discussed Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), the Quartermaines, and everything in between.

Their TV taste raised an important question we can’t help but ask: Could Abbott Elementary‘s next crossover event be withGeneral Hospital? The Emmy-winning comedy previously shared the screen with characters fromIt’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, joining forces for a single episode of each show.

ConsideringGeneral Hospital is run by ABC and Disney, which also runsAbbott, we can’t help but feel like the potential is there. After all,Abbott Elementary enjoys a surprise cameo from time to time. Is there room for the stars of the teachers’ favorite soap to make a guest appearance?

We already know the team will be heading to California as the series’ 100th episode unfolds at Disneyland. Perhaps that’s a good opportunity for such a crossover… Only time will tell for certain. But even outside of California, where General Hospital films, we’re sure the writers could come up with a creative way to make these shows’ worlds meet.
