American Idols Jamal Roberts Recalls Meeting Michelle Obama After Winning

Jamal Roberts has enjoyed some incredible experiences since winning American Idol in 2025, and one of those was going on tour with Brandy and Monica. Being on the road with the two legends gave him the opportunity to meet a lot of famous faces, including Michelle Obama.

“I met a lot of cool people, a lot of cool personalities, and a lot of people who have spoken to me that inspired me a whole lot,” he shared in a new interview.

When pressed about who he was referring to, Roberts said, “Brandy, Brandy’s mom, Monica, Monica’s husband, Kelly Rowland, Kelly Rowland’s husband. Patti LaBelle was there. Michelle Obama. Mya. It was a lot of people, man. It was so much to take in.”

Roberts beat John Foster to be named the winner ofAmerican Idol Season 23, and he recently opened up about another celebrity encounter with Stevie Wonder.

“Still in a state of shock!!!” Roberts wrote on Instagram in May. “One of my biggest vocal hero’s… the legendary Stevie Wonder came to meet me at my radio interview today because he’s a fan LA did not disappoint this week!”

Recently, Roberts has been promoting his song “Perfect for Me,” and he has another track coming out called “Girl Dad” on Friday, June 19. Roberts is a father to three daughters, including one who was born while he was in Los Angeles forAmerican Idol last year.

“My girls inspire me every single day,” Roberts shared on Instagram. “That’s why I wrote ‘Girl Dad.’”

The singer also recently made a major life change by purchasing a new house in his home state of Mississippi. He shared the news while appearing on the officialAmerican Idol podcast after returning to the show to perform. Roberts is currently on tour for the month of June and has other shows throughout the summer, as well.
