What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Kickoff?
Kickoff is a fake dating love story between Alex and Zoey. Zoey starts the book going through a breakup. She’s heartbroken. This story is the journey after her heartbreak to finding love again, and that’s really the story I wanted to tell… That you can always find love after heartbreak!
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Kickoff, what would they be?
Zoey’s would be Didn’t I by Kelly Clarkson. Alex’ would be Given Up by Linkin Park.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
My favorite genre to read is new adult romance, which is definitely my favorite genre to write!
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor, Shenanigans by Sarina Bowen, Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, and Tutoring the Player by Rebecca Jenshak.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
There’s a scene where Alex and Zoey are still friends and Zoey accidentally falls asleep in Alex’s bed. When she wakes up, Alex is asleep beside her. That was definitely my favorite scene to write!
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I always need a notebook nearby because writing one scene will create seven ideas and about twenty seven questions. I need to jot the thoughts down!
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Love yourself and help others love themselves.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
You’ve got to be your own pump up squad! Feel free to give yourself compliments whenever you want, just like Zoey!
