Actor Bruce Campbell has revealed on Instagram that he has been diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer, one that he says is “‘treatable’ not ‘curable.’”
In the post, Campbell apologized if the news comes as a shock — “it was to me too” — and noted that he will be pausing upcoming convention appearances and other public events to focus on treatment. “My plan is to get as well as I possibly can over the summer so that I can tour with my new movie Ernie & Emma this fall… Treatment needs and professional obligations don’t always go hand-in-hand,” he writes.
Campbell, 67, has become a beloved fan figure after decades of iconic performances, including the Evil Dead trilogy, other collaborations with director Sam Raimi, and the USA series Burn Notice. In his Instagram message, he added that, “Fear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-bitch and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while.”
