The comedian Chris Kattan has recently opened a brand new YouTube channel in collaboration with Maria Libri, which is an important new step for the former ‘Saturday Night Live’ star. It was expected that the announcement would be chaos and Kattan made it through a social media video in which he was celebrating from a bathtub. The ‘@heykattan’ channel is set to release its first video tomorrow.

Kattan is very much into online content creation and he made this announcement when he was literally involved in the project. The video was full of the comedian’s typical over-the-top activity and he was sitting in a bathtub, ridiculously shouting, ‘We’re vloggers now!’ He then quickly corrected it, speculating, ‘Oh no, maybe it’s vloggers with a V. Oh we’re vloggers now!’ before doing a series of ‘Yays!’ The video was a perfect example of the unpredictable and crazy humor that Kattan brought to ‘SNL’ with characters like Mango and Mr. Peepers.
The caption that came along the announcement was somewhat too similar to Kattan’s enthusiasm: ‘We’re bloggers now!!!!! vloggers’, pointing everyone at their new YouTube channel which was a collaboration with Maria Libri Official and at the same time signaling that it was a joint venture. This step marks a new era for Kattan who has been steadily visible in comedy through different film and TV roles since his ‘SNL’ days. Just the idea of regular content has instantly stimulated interest among his followers.
The online reaction was fast and full of the same playful spirit Kattan had demonstrated. One fan excitedly shared the news with his or her friends: ‘Omg I knew this was coming!!! Yay!!’ Such a comment may imply that the channel was perhaps a project teased or desired by the audience for a long time. Another user just found the whole thing adorable, writing ‘hahaha this is so cute!’
Kattan’s fans have not forgotten and they still feel that Kattan owes them some vlogging. One of the fans stated that it has been too long since Kattan last appeared, and, ‘It’s been a long time since you made a video on your YouTube channel; I am looking forward to the new ones. You are so adorable.’ This shows that there is a dedicated fan base ready to engage with Kattan’s new, more personal approach to content presentation. The comment also conveys the warm connection that many comedians feel with the audience.
In any case, the career news did not steal all the thunder in a typical manner. Kattan’s bathtub became the setting for the kind of offbeat commentary that has helped him create his brand. One of the comments which Kattan himself humorously acknowledged in the video was the one asking if it was a toe. A user provocatively asked, ‘Is that a TOE 😂😂😂,’ while another just answered with the laughing emojis and ‘is that a toe. Lol.’ This little detail sparked a big discussion and so, even though it was a significant announcement, Kattan’s comic timing was still very much present.
Some claimed the locations for the ‘wrong reasons’ including his bathroom with its amenities and the gear. One viewer was shocked by a certain bathtub mistake, shouting, ‘Not the shoes in the tub!!!!’ Conversely, the next comment was a more amicable suggestion: ‘Get in the waters warm.’ The announcement even caused some immediate logistical questions, with one follower wondering, ‘When u blogging Vegas ?’ obviously showing that he is keen on a potential travel vlog.
Not a single voice was raised against the prevailing opinion that this was a super new venture. A fan from Maui said, ‘Congrats, @chriskattanofficial 🙌🏼 Great to see you !!! Let me go subscribe!!!’ This instant call to action is very telling of the powerful attraction Kattan still possesses. Another well-wisher offered a more loving albeit slightly confusing and chaotic, message: ‘Love you Chris Stay Happy Bless,,.. Nooo⚠️ 📢Yesssss.’

With the launch of this channel, he not only reconnects with his fans but also, in a way, takes on a modern platform to win them over. The announcement is already a hint that the content will be nothing less than extraordinary. The internet is awash with the anticipation of what the very first official video will disclose. Fans are clearly excited for this new chapter.
