Twelve kaiju, eight arenas to flatten and a $29.99 price tag: Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is out today, November 3, which is Godzilla Day.
Atari is publishing and Pipeworks Studios handled development, the same pairing behind the 2002 GameCube original. The remaster is rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 and runs on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, with physical editions on preorder at atari.com at $29.99 for PS5 and $39.99 for a full Switch 2 cartridge.
Twelve Kaiju, Eight Arenas
Every monster carries its own moveset and its own single-player campaign. The arenas cover recreated real cities including Tokyo and San Francisco, plus Monster Island and the alien Mothership, and each one has a day version and a night version. Buildings come down. Atari and Pipeworks describe the rebuild as holding onto “99% mechanical fidelity” with the Showa-era Mechagodzilla among the roster.

Four monsters can fight at once locally, and progression now runs on a currency system: Research Points open up Projects, Gallery Coins open up archive material. NintendoWire, which scored the game 8 out of 10, reports that online play is restricted to 1v1 Quickplay and that nothing from 2004’s Godzilla: Save the Earth has been folded in.

Lindsay Gupton, CEO of Pipeworks, called the original “such an important title for the genre.” The studio followed it with Save the Earth in 2004 and Godzilla: Unleashed in 2007.
Godzilla Day Is Also a Movie Day
November 3 marks the 1954 release of Gojira, and Toho International builds the date out every year. Today it also means IMAX Early Access screenings of Godzilla Minus Zero, three days ahead of the film’s November 6 North American release, with tickets through Godzilla.com. Kristin Parcell, general manager of Toho International, said “Godzilla Day is always so special and fun.”
Toho is stacking the day with merchandise as well, including a Super7 Showa-era blind box line, a RockLove jewelry collaboration and an Attack Peter artwork collection through the official Godzilla Store. Twenty-four years on, though, the pitch on the game has not moved: pick a monster, break a city, bring three friends.
